Gilsland – Once Brewed – Chollerford

Experience the best of Hadrian’s Wall on an exclusive weekend challenge raising funds for young cancer patients across the UK.

Spanning the breadth of the country, Hadrian’s Wall has been named one of the Top 20 walking trails on ITV’s “Britain’s Favourite Walks”. We have plucked the best bits from this UNESCO World Heritage Site to offer an exciting and engaging walk that everyone can enjoy.

Choose to take on the full weekend challenge, or join us on Day 2 for the final stretch from Once Brewed to Chollerford.

ITINERARY

Day 1, Saturday 15th September (Approximately 10 miles)

Starting in Gilsland on the Cumbrian border, our first day will follow the most built-up section of wall remains, including those at Walltown, Cawfields and Windshields. We will follow the Hadrian’s Wall path to Once Brewed, where we will enjoy a group meal before an overnight stay at The Sill – the newly built National Landscape Discovery Centre.

Day 2, Sunday 16th September (Approximately 12 miles)

Start the day by walking over Steel Rigg where you can enjoy fantastic views over the Northumberland National Park and the famous Sycamore Gap before making our way to Housesteads Fort where you can journey back in time to discover more about life as a Roman. The route will then take us to Chesters Fort and down into the pretty village of Chollerford where our challenge ends.
